CiteSnap Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-07-14
CiteSnap is a local-first citation helper for Chrome. It reads metadata from the page you choose, lets you edit citation details, and stores your saved source library on your own device.
Data We Handle
CiteSnap may process the title, URL, authors, publication date, site name, DOI, and other citation metadata from the active webpage after you click the extension.
Data Storage
Saved sources are stored locally in Chrome using chrome.storage.local. CiteSnap does not create an account, does not run a remote backend, and does not sync your source library to our servers.
Data Sharing
CiteSnap does not sell, rent, or share user data with advertisers, data brokers, or third parties. The extension does not use analytics, tracking pixels, or personalized advertising.
Permissions
CiteSnap requests only the browser permissions needed to read the current page, save your local source library, copy citations, and download export files.
User Control
You can remove saved sources from the library inside the extension. You can also uninstall the extension at any time from Chrome.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
